I knew David Hill in Dallas,he played in The Front. So seeing this site is stuff I've never seen before!David went on to play with Non Compos Mentis,Whiteman,Fast Food Czars...He was a great guitar player but a lousy boyfriend...hmmm responsible for my insanity on a daily basis. check out my website http://TexasPunkJunk.homestead.com/OHLOISWELCOME.html
Jon Cormany 12/14/2000
I left the Ravers and NYC in '78 to return to Colorado for legal reasons. Steve Knudsen took me to a club to see Jonny3.I had never seen them before and they were awsome. I remember I was wearing these really cool shoes I had gotten in NY. Steve was, how shall I say, impaired, and puked all over my shoes. He was profusely apologetic and I forgave him immediately. I mean he was like a puppy and how can you get pissed off at a puppy? Anyway Steve, I have long since forgiven but I will never forget.
Jon Cormany 12/14/2000
They were the best of times and they were the worst of times. Having been a member of both the Ravers and the Corvairs I can honestly say they were some of the best times I ever had.Sadly, not all of us made it. I lift my glass to Myles Syken and Al Leis. I miss you both, my partners in crime, my brothers in arms.

Funny seeing our forgettable speed-pop '80-'82 college band, Fun At The Zoo, mentioned in the discography... the most significant thing about us was that our drummer, Tad Hutchison, and co-guitarist, Jim Sangster, went on to become the notably powerful rhythm section of Seattle's legendary Young Fresh Fellows. Where are the Rok-Tots?
Bill Van Dusen 12/01/2000
phil, son of a buick, this is fantastic. got home from a long day tonight and my cousin said he saw the denver punk bands on a web site. what a blast from the past. hope you're doing well. if you need any pictures and/or recordings to add to this page, let me know. i have a bunch of pictures from the tulagi's gig as well as posters, song lists, and a full recording session we (the violators)did somewhere in a dark, denver studio. make sure you email me and at least say hi. i'm an assistant prof. at regis university teaching philosophy and criminal justice but i occasionally corrupt my students with tall tales of the decadent past!

Excellent site!!!Those who were there and you know who you are,can fondly remember and know what happened back when punk meant more than anything!LONG live Rock!
rick stott 11/20/2000
Actually I do! Glad to see some of the oldies in the guestbook... Is 2001 the 25th Raver anniversary? Why does this keep repeating?
Aaron Proctor 11/04/2000
My name's Aaron Proctor, I'm 19 years old, from Philadelphia, PA. I am the last/only New Waver in this city and it's nice to know another city still keeps track of a scene that might be "dead" or "inactive". Keep up the good work on the site and I'll definately have to come back and give it another look. Aaron Proctor of Computer 153http://mp3.com/computer153

I got teary eyed nostalgic for the old Denver new wave days reading this stuff. I played and sang for a band called the Jetsons and we were thrilled to be part of this scene. I was tossed out of Walabi's for being underage and my band mates had to bring out my equipment for me. We broke up not long thereafter. Still playing and singing when I can, currently with Denver's Trailer Boys (incl. a Young Weasel, Rock Advocate and Pink/Bop Street dude). It's great to know the late 70's scene is being remembered. Frankly, I can't remember much of it myself! Drinking was better underage! Love ya all!!!

Haven't read through the whole sit e but think it is fantastic! I grew up in Boulder but was 10 years too young. Yes, I started taking the bus to Denver at 14 to buy records at Wax Trax but by then hardcore was the thing (Dead Silence, Again) and dancing meant running around in a circle hitting people. Great to read about what I only heard about from older friends' siblings.
Peter Lockhart 08/17/2000
Just found this site. I was 15 in 1975 when I first heard the Sex Pistols. That got me into punk and i've listened to it ever since. This site is a revelation to me. I always thought punk was a purely British thing. I knew of bands like the Ramones, Tube Richard Hell ETC. I thought they were an exception. This site has opened my eyes.
Steve Knutson 07/24/2000

Jo Ann Sieger (nee Gogue) 06/07/2000
Wow, what a blast from my past. Being part of the scene (Guys and Varve singer, JIII and Wax Trax fan) it was good to see something about that special era. I've already added one archived article (consecutive Seconds) so I hope to add more before I get too old and senile to remember. That was a great time with great bands.

Hi Everyone. Hope you all are enjoying the board. Terrrrrrific board here. Some great history and info. I have a question for Jon Cormany. What's the story behind your "I left the Ravers and NYC in '78 to return to Colorado for legal reasons." Some of us have lost sleep...
garner harris 05/20/2001
Grew up in The Springs, fun to see the names of old bands I used to listen to. Other Colorado Springs bands of the early 80's others might remember: ANTE BELLUM (thrash) WET NATALIES (punks with a trombone) SAM SPADE & THE DETECTIVES (cool girl fronted punks with an artsy edge) SYNDICATORS (new wavey pop band) THE INSTAMATICS (some surf some soul lotsa fun) DEAD HEIR (punk) THE PRECIOUS (great garage/psych/pop) others I heard of but can't really remember THE TOPSIDERS, NO TRUCE, RANDOM SHEEP & ARMAGEDEON DANCE BAND
Bob Swanson 05/15/2001
I was a fan of the scene '78/'79 catching the Jonny III, the Front (at the White Mule, was it with the Suicide Commandoes?) and hitchhiked from Glenwood Springs about 6 pm to catch the infamous Elvis Costello show at Boulder's Glenn Miller Ballroom.....Also caught one of the Boulder bands farewell performances ('78/79?) at the Boulder Free School....but can't recall who it was....just remember the stage up high, and a curious mix of hippies/punks, but then that was/is Boulder.Went on to become a founding member of Denver's Aviators and The Rock Advocates producing a few singles along the way most notably "Quest For Girls" b/w "Rock Advocates Theme" in 1981 along with my brother Jim and the legendary Scott Shaw with some incredible drumming by Dale Van Lewen, now he is a great guitarist too......so much to share here , but would love to thank the Guys, the Numbers, WALABI's, dancing to the Gluons (especially "Sue Your Parents" "Cinderella City"), The Young Weasels ("Mighty Mouse"), Lunch ("Youth In Asia", "just Like Dogs"), The Trouble Boys....and too many to list right now ...... Thanks also to Sparky, Nurse Kittle, etc etc etc...Now shut the fuck up and keep dancing...
Marcus Maroon 05/09/2001
I just fell onto your site via Google and discovered the band Cells. Jon Neulin produced two records for my DC based band, Acrylix, in the early 80's. We found Jon via an add we'd placed in the Village Voice. Hadn't heard from or of him in years and years. RIP, Jon. Your madness made great music, but it finally got the best of you.Marcus Maroon

Peter Tonks 03/16/2000
I'm interested in getting ahold of Phil Gammage. I produced the 1st punk rock radio show in Colorado in 1978 on KGNU Boulder ("Welcome To The 1980s") playing lots of local music and hosting in-studio bands. Then I produced "Over The Edge" through the early 80s. I was the co-editor of "Not The New Wave News". For the last 15 years I have recorded original punk-folk rock under the name "Cowtown" with an assortment of notable Denver-Boulder musicians. Just released the 24th album.
Bob Dhillon 03/09/2000
Hey Phil...glad to see the R'n'R fires are still burning. I still remember our trip to the Knitting Factory, that trendy club, the "ladies" by the docks, pizzas at 4am....haven't been back to NYC since then. It's long overdue. Why don't you pop over to London and visit the old punk haunts here?Bob
